QSMI Leverages Microsoft SharePoint technologies for corporate portal.
Annandale, VA -- September 1, 2009 -- QSMI, a leading provider of technology and management consulting services and solutions, announced today that it has rolled out a Microsoft SharePoint Services based intranet. The company has leveraged SharePoint’s file storage and sharing capabilities, customizable workflow framework, and robust collaboration toolset to improve internal processes.
Over the course of several months, the internal development staff worked with subject matter experts in all departments to gather requirements and review processes. Through the use of both customized and out-of-the-box templates and functionalities, a feature rich portal was developed to support employee, administrative support staff, and corporate management activities.
Among the features of the new intranet are sites and workspaces for all areas of the company.
Team Sites were deployed for use by development teams with such capabilities as the posting and editing documents, tracking system defects, meeting planning, and share other pertinent information through the use of wikis.
Sites were also created for Project Managers to track contract information such as monthly reports, funding “burn” rate plans, deliverables, and modifications.
Management staff, through the use of a workflow based Position Management site, can now handle recruiting activities without the use of a much less productive e-mail based communication system.
Additionally, employees now have the ability to submit leave requests to their managers for approval, prepare an expense report, sign up for company activities, and access a phone directory for internal use.
With these new capabilities, QSMI has markedly improved communication, and productivity throughout the entire company. With the ability to quickly and easily develop and deploy new features, the possibilities are seemingly endless for future functionality.
