SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator

This Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator position has a role on a team involved in the design, development, testing, deployment, and O&M support of mission critical applications for a federal government customer.  Job duties include being primarily responsible for administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases and database servers in the customer' production IT environment; and the assisting the applications development and maintenance team move system upgrades from the Enterprise Test & Development environment to the production environment. Candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot routine and emergency issues on a very large IT environment in a timely fashion.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for administering SQL Server 2008 databases in the customer’s production environment.  Additional responsibilities include designing, developing, and migrating flat file data to these databases. Provide operational and maintenance support to several existing systems.  Responsible for installations, upgrades, back-ups and configurations. Ability to implement database security, perform tuning, monitoring and create policies and procedures. Resolve performance issues, data replication, indexing and data integrity problems. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree and a minimum of 6 years general IT experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires 4 year of experience with SQL Server (including SQL Server 2008 and supporting production database. Some applicaitons development experience with OraclePL/SQL, SQL Server, Microsoft C#.NET is a plus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
